The Oberoi Beach Resort is at Baie aux Tortues, also known as Turtle Bay, in Balaclava.
The journey crosses the island from the airport in the south-east to the resort on the north-west coast. Depending on traffic, the route can run via Port Louis or through the inland roads towards Verdun and Arsenal.

The approximate one-hour journey is driving time only. Immigration, baggage collection and customs take place before your transfer begins, so avoid calculating your hotel arrival directly from your flight’s landing time.

Meeting your driver at SSR Airport
After clearing immigration, collecting your bags and passing through customs, look for your driver in the arrivals hall.
The name on the sign will be the name you provide when booking. Keep your transfer confirmation and our contact number available so you can reach us if needed.
We monitor your flight’s arrival. Please message us if your flight number changes, your travel date moves or your flight is cancelled.
If you are delayed inside the terminal after landing, let us know. Your confirmation will explain the waiting arrangements for your booking.
Once you meet your driver, you will travel directly to the resort unless you have requested a stop in advance.
Choosing your vehicle
The right vehicle depends on both the people travelling and the luggage they bring.
For a couple, a private car or SUV may provide the space needed. Families and groups may need a minivan or minibus, particularly when travelling with pushchairs, several large suitcases or sports equipment.
Please include the number of large suitcases and hand luggage bags in your enquiry. Mention golf bags, folding wheelchairs or other bulky items separately.
If you need a baby seat, toddler seat or booster, send the child’s age, height and approximate weight. We will confirm the suitable seat and vehicle arrangement before pickup.

Check whether your hotel booking includes transfers
Some Oberoi accommodation offers include return airport transfers. Check your reservation confirmation or ask the hotel before arranging a separate service.
If transfers are already included, confirm the meeting instructions and vehicle arrangements with the provider handling that booking.

Arriving early at The Oberoi
The hotel’s published check-in time is 2 pm.
If your flight lands in the morning, we can take you to the resort after you complete the airport arrival formalities. Your transfer booking does not guarantee early access to your room.
The Oberoi states that early check-in is subject to availability. If you need a room guaranteed immediately on arrival, contact the hotel about reserving the previous night.
It is helpful to settle this before travelling, especially after an overnight flight or when travelling with young children.
Your return transfer to Mauritius Airport
We also arrange private pickups from The Oberoi for departure flights.
Send your flight number, departure date and scheduled departure time. We will confirm a hotel pickup time that accounts for your airline’s airport arrival requirement, the expected drive and a traffic allowance.
Please be ready at the agreed meeting point with checkout completed and your luggage collected.
The hotel’s published checkout time is noon. For an evening flight, ask reception about late checkout or luggage arrangements before deciding how to spend your final hours.
If you would like sightseeing before the airport, request this as a separate itinerary. The route, luggage space, duration and airport arrival time need to be planned together.
Payment for your transfer
For direct Barefoot bookings, you pay the driver in cash at the end of each journey.
For the arrival transfer, payment is collected when you reach The Oberoi. For the return journey, you pay when you reach the airport.
We accept Mauritian rupees, euros, British pounds and US dollars. Confirm your preferred currency when booking so you know the exact amount to prepare.
Cards are not accepted in our vehicles.
Exploring from The Oberoi during your stay
If you would like a day out from Balaclava, we can arrange a private excursion with pickup and return at the hotel.
